Hello Dear Selva, It is nice to see you here at Marathi languge Wiktionay and supporting the same actively.While I am one of the sysops here, I have been busy all these days taking care of support to newcomers and support pages at Marathi Languge Wikipedia.

Usually I do have tendancy to write in detail so the same thing benefits me in updating support pages later. Before I go to further details. Let me inform you that Here is a list of oline marathi dictionaries at Marathi Wikipedia(needs to be updated at mr wiktionary) secondly we do have a special support project page at marathi wikipedia for all those who did not learn Marathi as first languge in schools w:विकिपीडिया:Marathi language support tools

Besides we do have good templates ready here at wiktionary which will make your work easy.The links are there at Main page itself.Just you need to copy paste them at the pages you will be creating here.

Before telling you further about the templates let me tell you is we encompass a bigger areana about a word in every possible context with all possible details , because simply that is the need of Marathi Languge at the moment and that leve of support is needed for Marathi Wikipedia too.

Template भाषा शीर्ष is supposed to be begining of every article first it mentions in which languge the word is , then it gives pronounciation in every Indian Languge Script and few international languge.

Second template given is अंतिम शीर्ष , although it is given at second no at main page in an article it is supposed to come at the end What it includes basically is simillerly pronouncing words of all the languges (mainly indian) (not translations) First in that languges script followd by Marathi Script.Then in the same template ===शब्दाचा इतिहास=== sub section is provided for historical refence to its roots may be from tamil or any world language or may be proto Indo Uranian/Aryan claims .===हेसुद्धा पाहा=== is see this also,==संदर्भ=== is refrences ===बाह्य दुवे=== is extarnal links then one of the categorisation we do is how many letter word it would be in Marathi Script along with languge name ( Iwill write an example as time permits me for you)

As by now you know भाषा शीर्ष and अंतिम शीर्ष templates are supposed to be common to all aricles at marathi wiktionary.

In middle, that is after भाषा शीर्ष we have to insert a template the word is in whatever classification wise noun/pronoun/verb etc is now these templates are very much in details including all relevent grammatical possibilities and possible linguistic categorisation ; these templates are to be inserted one after other that in following aaplicable cronology

1. नाम
2. सर्वनाम
3. विशेषण
4. क्रियापद
5. क्रियाविशेषण
6. शब्दयोगी अव्यय
7. उभयान्वयी अव्यय
8. केवलप्रयोगी अव्यय.

And as earlier said after this comes is अंतिम शीर्ष template .

Template system is quite elaborate fill in just those details which are known to you , and the leave rest of template visible so as and when some other person comes he can fill the same.

While all types of categories are mentioned in templates itself one needs to have grammatical knowledge for which category is to be opted.For this first level grammatical pages are readily available at Marathi languge wikipedia, we are short of next (second level) of gramatical and linguistic depth.

there are few more things also but let me find some time for that or may be I can answer your querries as those arise from you or mr. prasannakumar.

Besides here I heen busy in supporting minimum level support at marathi pages at commons,translate wiki,meta,strategy wiki,media wiki that means where other people do not reach I do reach, I contributed to sanskrit wikipedia too in initial stage and not very active but I do spam control at Hindi Languge Wiktionay too as sysop since Hindi Wiktionary do not have enough support there I give twice in a month round. I am quite regular in taking a round here too to remove spam and support newcomers here who come with doubt. But unfortunately we do not have enough contribution at marathi language wiktionary. I do have target to improve Marathi Wiktionary too but with my selected tasks at mr wiki I am likely to be over loaded there untill nov as per my estimate still I will give first preference here for any support requirements.

In reasons for low no. contributions here according to my observations are as follows:

1) Marathi Language Transliteration support and support pages are not at par with Marathi Wikipedia support level,Those need to be imported actually I need support in bulk importing of support pages from Marathi Wikipedia. 2) My personal observation is Having wiki logo localised has a positive impact but I have not received support in creating a localisation wiktionary logo yet. 3) While we have first level support pages about Marathi Languge Grammar , We need to accomplish second level of grammar topics at mr wikipedia without that marathi people are going to remain confused about classification and categorisation etc. that is also one of the hindrance

• Hi Selva,I saw your words ,here I would request you to make few changes given below.

1. Be sure that the word is a Marathi word or else,its likely to take any Devnagari word as Marathi word (Due to similar script).
2. For all Thamizh words having "ழ்"(zh) & "ள்"(l) Use "ळ"(l) this letter to write it into Marathi word.Like: Kaal-काळ(காள்/காழ்)and Tamizh-तमिळ(தமிழ்)
3. For all Thamizh words having "ல்" (L) Use "ल" this letter to write it into Marathi word. Like Kaal-काल(கால்)

• Kaal-கால்-If you write काल, Here in Marathi it means Yesterday.
• Kaal-காள்-If you write काळ, Here in Marathi it means Time.

Although I know to read Marathi and understand a tiny bit, I can't compose and write except a few words. So kindly excuse me for writing in English (I've no other choice at present).

--It's OK,to communicate in English. In fact it is fast and easiest way to convey messages.

1. I know Marathi ळ and I'll use it for Tamil. What is the pronounciation of ऴ that is a ळ with a dot under it (would it be ழ ??).

-Well,Marathi Language does not have any letter having a dot below,if you find anything like that it would be a Hindi Letter,Marathi Has all letters without any sign or dots,for letter ழ we use full ळ only,also there's is no ज़ or ऴ in Marathi,For Z we use झ and not ज़ (dental-which is used in Hindi),Santacruz-सांताक्रुझ, Maazaa-माझा,Majaa-मजा,Zero-झिरो,Zimbabwe-झिंबाब्वे,ok.To write Joshi-(Dental J)जोशी,to write Zutshi-झुत्शी ,Punjab-पंजाब (Though J is different we use same letter.)

1. About काल and काळ I know the difference, however, for pronounciation with Devanagari script, the word kaal (meaning leg in Tamil is pronounced exactly as काल. The word Devanagari काळ exactly (pronounciation-wise)= காள் (and not காழ்). Hereafter I'll use तमिळ for Tamil.

-Its OK,to write the pronunciation as Kaal-काल,because here we are not considering meaning of the word "काल",its use is to show the exact pronunciation of Tamizh word Kaal(Leg),btw even in Marathi Kai is used to denote Hands,its associated with hand related things,Kaichi(Scissor),Kaiwaari (Who literally gives hands to help)etc.

1. I can read Devanagari fairly well (occasionally I have difficulty in reading samyuktaakshara because the stacked letters are not clear enough and I have to enlarge them to see, but I know to read samyuktaakshara, I should add fairly well, not perfectly). Is not Marathi काळ also said as वेळ, वेळा ? I remember " कित्ति वेळ ? ".

- Yes काळ-वेळ have similar meaning and are used independently as well as collectively depending upon the context ,Kiti vel-किती वेळ?means How much time?if someone is taking our time or getting late:Kiti Vaajale? किती वाजले?means what time is it?like that,ok.

Formatting

Hi Selva,Now lets work on the formatting part,before we proceed if we can create a fix format in which a page is created, we can easily edit the same page together ,I mean if I keep on creating new pages with new words you can directly edit the remaining part (left blank inside the page),what say? for that we must design a standard format,for both Tamil and Marathi words,once we create a few such a word we can categories them into standard categories,This is my approach towards creating a 1000 words wiktionary.Please send your suggestions.For your reference I have created two different pages with some standard part in it.

3. Then I will again create new word pages from the links within,means Meaning of Tamil word In marathi would take me to the new word in Marathi and vice-versa.
4. Once the new Marathi word is created,you can add further information,you wish to add,just like you do regularly.
5. I will look at the categorization part.

-Now tell me,Is this plan OK,will it do?It will be like Mutual co-operation.OK,

I'll do it as soon as I can. I know this is to be done on priority. Please reduce the font size. People can always use CTRL + to increase the font size if they want to. Just think about it. At present it is looking too big and the lines are not properly aligned. Thanks for your message , We got in touch through emails .I think he got hold of my email ID from some source may be wikimedia india list . I august we gave and still first priority is to vector implementation at mr wiki and other projects specialy we are concerned about smooth transition of transiliteration facilities and expecting some fair criticism about various new words devised and its spellings and handling the same since usually no one comes to help to correct spellings in time they will firxt come across and then start criticising.SO but they are ours and we need to accept fact of the life happily.

Sept and oct will remain busy on personal front besides there some wiki-meets are coming up at pune and mumbai in second half of sept. Hi Selva Nice to see your comments on formatting,yes I like few points from your discussion ,Here I will explain my views by giving an example below and I hope it would soon make our format clear and workable ,right? ok lets go with your example of Chevi.

• शब्दाची माहिती - This part is useful & necessary
• देवनागरीत :चेवि - This thing is required to tell how it has been written in native lang.& Not how it should be written in devanagari?coz it is of no use to write foreign word in devanagari in order to use it coz they will definitely have local alternative words,right?

well,to avoid confusion here we will make it like Devanagari Samaroop (देवनागरी समरूप) : Script OK.

• शब्दोच्चार :चेवि- Here a foreign word may have multiple pronunciation like sevi,chevi etc.in local as well as native lang.of the word.for that reason I have included this thing.
• समानार्थी : कर्ण -this I think is not much useful and an extra element,so it can be excluded.
• शब्दार्थ :செவி = कान - rather we will provide other meanings and synonyms here in Shabdarth.
• व्याकरण : नाम - Mandatory thing.
• इतर भाषेतील समानार्थी शब्द - I do agree, this is also not required,so better we will avoid this.to keep it simple to create a better easy to use wiktionary.

इंग्रजी : Ear , हिंदी : कान

I hope this explanation is useful to understand what I mean to say ,if you like this we will keep the format like this ,given below (for all non Marathi words)
